Instagrams!

2pm might not be the optimal time to post to Instagram but I’ve never really done anything at the optimal time. Most of my life I’ve felt like I was moving just a little bit slower than the people around me. Taking my time. Watching the world in order to better understand how I might travel through it. Sometimes that’s been easier to accept other times not so much. 🌱 How do we reconcile our feelings of worth and accomplishment — comparatively to others — with our own natural rhythms? Time is can be so wibbly-wobbly and doesn’t really mean anything at all but we’re constantly bombarded with messages of “not enough time” or “running out of time.” What does that do to our ability to take time, manage time, accept time? 🌺 This last weekend, I took a little time for myself. I joined my faerie friend @clare and others for a few hours of #dcforestbathing. I wasn’t feeling well. My chronic pain was flaring up and I almost didn’t go but I figured, I could be at pain at home with my cats (not a bad option) or at pain outside where the oxygen was probably a little stronger. So I went. And I walked. And I laid underneath a tree with my legs-up-the-trunk. And I looked up and watched the breeze rustle through the trees. And my pain didn’t go away but I was thinking about it a little bit less. I took the time to be as still as I could in that moment. And for just a little while, I had nowhere else to be, no deadlines to complete and no trajectory to follow. Just me and the trees. 🌲

Just some more dogwoods because I want to put more pretty things out into the world. 🌸

Notre Dame de Paris (2004-ish) || Most of the photos I’ve taken of this beautiful cathedral are trapped on a hard-drive inside of a dead apple time capsule that I hope I can one day retrieve. Here is one of the few I have printed in old fashioned photo form. I’ve had the privilege to walk through this church not once, not twice, but three times in my life. To climb the many stairs to the top — up there with the parapets of stone — and look out over Paris remains one of my favorite views. Walking through the inside of the cathedral and looking up at that magnificent round stained glass window is something everyone should experience at least once. It’s something special and my heart breaks for the city of Paris, the country of France and the world that this beautiful place suffered so much damage yesterday. Thank god the fire was contained and that eventually people will he able to experience this beautiful space again.
